Spring is finally in the air as trees bud, flowers bloom, garage sales begin and the Aberfoyle Antique Market is now open for its 54th year. Since 1961 the Aberfoyle Antique Market has been open for business from the end of April to the end of October. This is Canada’s oldest antique market and it’s not far from Toronto.
A very modest fee of $2.00 gets into the huge market filled with goodies from our past. We go a few times a year and enjoy it very much.
This weekend was a special event which meant the market was open on Saturday as well. The next Saturday special event will be held on September 19, 2015 a entry is special fee of $5.00 per person.
Even a band was rocking the market today and always lots of tasty food and seating areas are available.
There are lots of unique items that will sure bring you “Back When” you were younger or perhaps remind you of a long past loved one, but I guarantee it will remind you of a time when everything wasn’t “Automatic” and way to complicated.
Way too many things to post here, so I will highlight a few I found interesting to shoot.
There are rusty things and shiny things too.
Some things, I just shake my head and ask why?
Meet Pete, Pete has been at the Aberfoyle Antique Market for 45 years. Pete has quite the collection, some of which has been used in movies.
He is as interesting as his mustache, I could talk to him for hours. Over the 45 plus years he has met some real interesting folks and seen some weird stuff too.
Pete loves to brag about his children, I met his daughter last week and his grand daughter last year while they were helping him man his two story shop.
This is a place you need to see at least once.
I have a blast at Aberfoyle and I have begun collecting some antiques too, who knows maybe in a few years I’ll have a booth.
So much I not posting, do yourself a favour and go check out this place.
