2017 in Review Part 1 #goodbye2017

January to June 2017

2017 proved to be quite the year. Don’t get me wrong I’m not complaining because I know for a fact many had it a lot worse that I.  I ‘m very grateful for all I have and cherish every moment. If you are a regular reader of Candid Toronto you know the posts have been very few and far in between. I’ll chalk that to what I refer to as “life happens”.

My usual start to the new year is watching brave souls plunge into the very cold waters of Lake Ontario for charity. The Toronto Polar Bear Dip

The North American International Motorcycle SuperShow  is a must go if you like motorcycle or if you just want to have a great time looking at really cool bikes and related stuff. The show features many vendors, live music, celebrity guests and fashion shows.

The Silva family expanded with our new Border Collie puppy from a great breeder Burhill Border Collies . Before I get bombarded with hate for not rescuing a dog, my family and I began our search  for a rescue. Unfortunately,  most of the puppies we saw were not the right fit for us. It would not have  been fair to the dog our ourselves if we got something that didn’t fit our circumstances.  The comfort of getting a dog from an established breeder who had a great line of dogs was the best fit for us.  Having said that, had I known about Beyond the Leash K9 Training and the amazing results we’ve had with our dog, perhaps rescuing would have been possible. I truly support and commend those who rescue these wonderful animals. This is Komett and you can follow his adventures on Instagram or Twitter. @kometts_universe.

I was fortunate enough to go to a concert at the First Ontario Concert Hall in Hamilton with my wife. The concert featured The River Town Saints, Jason Blaine and the amazing and super nice guy Tim Hicks. An all Canadian bill that blew the roof of the concert hall.  hosted by the lovely Linda Martelli from KX 94.7 FM

FrostCon is a fan run ComiCon of sorts.

Outdoor and Adventure Show,  at this show you will find out where you want to go, even though you had no plans to go anywhere. Trust me you don’t want to miss this year’s show. February 23rd to 25th, 2018

Eric Church concert at The Air Canada Centre. This concert was the very best concert I have ever been to. Finally a concert that knocked my Michael Jackson concert of 1984, off the top spot. Eric Church had no opening act, he played for over three hours. Truth be told I could have listened to him for days. Wow, Wow Wow! I’m still freaking out!!!!

The perfect way to start off April is with the Toronto Pillow Fight. Loads of fun and feathers.

Komett’s first CandidToronto outing. I was complimented by many about how behaved he was.  He was very well behaved, but mostly afraid of the pigeons that he saw for the first time. lol

Anime North is one of my favourite cosplay events, lots of amazing costumes and the opportunity to shoot outdoors is great.

One in the Chamber or O.I.T.C. performing at The Rockpile.  These boys are very talented and can rock the roof off any venue.

This is where crap hit the fan, four days from my 50th birthday I got a call from an OPP officer that my Mom had been in a car accident. My Mom was seriously injured and remained in hospital until September. Her injuries were serious but thankfully she worked very hard to survive this accident. Her life will forever be changed but we are thankful, it could have been much worse.  Along with a new puppy, this is the reason I was unable to attend many events or post on my blog. My time went to my day job and my free time to training my puppy and dealing my mom’s situation.

The CTV television upfronts did not disappoint once again. The Upfronts is a red carpet event for the networks new fall shows. Sometimes returning shows are also featured at this  event. Lots of stars show up for fans.

The World Naked Bike Ride (Toronto) is one of my favourite Toronto events, it’s a lot of  fun.

Much Music Video Awards (MMVAs) When Queen St West becomes even cooler than it already is. Top performing musicians walk the red carpet, perform  and if lucky walk away with an award.

Actors show up to this event as well, in fact many other types of celebrities show up such as professional athletes.

Queen’s Plate, I can’t explain how much fun this event is. Music, horses, well dressed people and a lot of cool hats.  In 2018, Brad Paisley  is the musical guest on opening day.  Enjoy on day or all three days, the price is the same. June 29th, 30th and July 1st. I’ve got my tickets, get your today.

Stay tuned for the second half of 2017 in Review.
